Sustainability

South East England is one of the most beautiful regions in the UK with a strong economy and a healthy environment. We must ensure the quality of this environment is maintained and enhanced while enabling sustainable development and growth.

One of the key aims of the South East Plan is that the South East region develops in a way in which everyone can satisfy their basic needs and enjoy a better quality of life, without compromising it for future generations.

To help achieve this aim the Regional Sustainability Framework (RSF) has been created to guide sustainable development in South East England. All regional strategies and policies should follow RSF principles to ensure the actions of all the South East region's organisations contribute to a consistent vision of our sustainable future.

Information on how we can create a sustainable South East region, including the Regional Sustainability Framework, is outlined in the Sustainable Development section. How we manage our natural resources, the energy we use and the waste we produce is a vital part of sustainability. Please visit our Natural Resources page for further details.
