Flooding
Flood Risk AppraisalThe Regional Assembly has undertaken a Regional Flood Risk Appraisal (RFRA) of the draft South East Plan. This follows the requirements of PPS25. It draws together information from the sustainability appraisal of the draft South East Plan and the sub-regional strategies. The RFRA reflects information on flood risk provided by the Environment Agency and identifies areas of the region where large scale development proposed in the draft South East Plan coincides with broad areas of higher flood risk (Flood Zones 2 and 3). By doing so it identifies areas where there is a need for more detailed Strategic Flood Risk Assessments to inform the spatial distribution of new development at the local level. The work was supported by the Principal Authorities and the Environment Agency.
