Regional Sustainability Framework
What is the RSF?The RSF sets a common vision, two regional goals, four priorities and 24 objectives that will help guide sustainable development in the South East. All regional strategies and policies should follow RSF principles to ensure the actions of all South East organisations contribute to a consistent vision of our sustainable future. The RSF contains a Sustainability Appraisal guide that aims to encourage regional and local organisations, businesses and community groups to review their own plans and strategies against the framework. This enables the sustainable development objectives to be integrated into our actions. Regular monitoring of RSF objectives will show the South East region's progress towards sustainable development. The RSF was launched in June 2008 along with an explanatory communique:

ConsultationConsultation on a draft of the RSF ran from 3 September to 26 November 2007. This draft is available to download below:
The Regional Assembly received a good number of written and online responses to the consultation, arranged a youth questionnaire and hosted well attended workshops in Woking and Brighton. The following paper sets out an analysis of the responses received.
These responses were considered by the Sustainable Futures Group (SFG) and a draft RSF was agreed. The RSF was then presented to each of the different regional partners for endorsement. Following consideration and final discussion at the Regional Planning Committee meeting on 30 January 2008 the RSF was endorsed by the Full Regional Assembly meeting on 5 March 2008. Sustainable Futures GroupThe Sustainable Futures Group (SFG) has been created to lead South East England's approach to sustainable development and the RSF is their first major piece of work.
