Availability of Potential Land for Mitigation

The Assembly, working with other partners, has undertaken a number of studies into the availability of land that could potentially be used to mitigate the effects of development on the SPA.

Audit and Assessment of Potential Land for Mitigation (July 2006)

The Assembly, with support from Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) and English Nature, commissioned Land Use Consultants to undertake this initial audit and assessment of potential mitigation land. The report was published on 24 July 2006.

Further work on the Availability of Mitigation Land

The Assembly has recently commissioned further work to update and refine the ‘Audit and Assessment of Potential Land for Mitigation’.

The report sets out some potential options for the delivery of mitigation land, including the likely timescales for bringing land forward, consideration of the impact of existing user levels and the nature conservation interests of sites, and opportunities to share mitigation land between local authorities. Detail about the analysis of individual sites is available on request from the Regional Assembly.
